Blended Learning Experience

Role: Learning Experience Designer | Platform: Canvas LMS | Audience: K-12 Educators

The Challenge

Design a blended, online learning experience that helps educators move beyond memorization of content to building students’ historical thinking skills.

My Approach

I intentionally designed the course as a blended learning experience, in which asynchronous modules introduced key concepts and skills, and live Zoom sessions provided opportunities for discussion, modeling, and classroom application. I structured the course into scaffolded modules built around essential questions. Each module combined content, primary source analysis, and checkpoint activities to support gradual skill-building.

Multimedia and LMS Design

The course was designed to create a seamless connection between asynchronous and synchronous components, reinforcing learning through multiple touchpoints. I built the course in Canvas and integrated guided video, annotation activities, discussion prompts, and module-based pacing for a clear learner experience.

Outcome

The course was designed for 22 hours of professional development and supported more than 100 educators through asynchronous learning and live session engagement.
