ClassSpark
Video-Based Online Learning
Role: Project Manager
Focus: Video-based learning, multimedia production workflows, educator professional learning
The Challenge
Colonial Williamsburg sought to expand access to its educator professional development by contributing courses to ClassSpark, a video-based platform designed to deliver scalable, on-demand learning for K–12 educators.
The challenge was to translate rich historical content and instructional expertise into engaging, high-quality video-based learning experiences that were:
Scalable across a national audience
Instructionally sound and classroom-relevant
Cohesive across multiple videos and contributors
This required not only strong instructional design but also coordination across content experts and the video production team.
My Approach
I managed the end-to-end development of Colonial Williamsburg’s video-based courses for ClassSpark, serving as the bridge between content experts, production teams, and instructional design goals.
My work focused on:
Collaborating with subject-matter experts to shape content into clear, engaging instructional scripts
Leading a structured script development and review process to ensure historical accuracy and pedagogical alignment
Coordinating filming logistics and scheduling across multiple stakeholders
Designing accompanying instructional materials to support reflection and classroom application
This approach ensured that each video functioned not just as content delivery, but as part of a cohesive learning experience.
Multimedia and Learning Experience Design
These courses were designed as video-centered learning experiences, integrating multimedia and instructional supports to enhance engagement and learning. These courses included:
Scripted and produced video segments featuring historians and educators
Structured content into short, focused videos aligned to specific learning goals
Applied instructional design principles to guide pacing, clarity, and learner engagement
Supporting materials to reinforce key ideas and classroom application
Ensured consistency across videos through iterative review and alignment processes
Outcome
We launched the final courses on ClassSpark, providing a scalable, video-based professional learning experience for educators nationwide.
These courses:
Expanded access to Colonial Williamsburg’s educational content beyond in-person and live programs
Provided educators with flexible, on-demand professional development
Supported teacher learning through a combination of expert insight, visual media, and application-focused design
This project strengthened my ability to design and manage multimedia learning experiences at scale, bridging content development, video production, and instructional design.
